Sildenafil or Sildenafil citrate is drug to increase the potency. Recommended dose is 50 mg if necessary, is taken about one hour before planned sexual activity. Given the efficacy and tolerability the dose may be increased to 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum recommended dose is 100 mg. The maximum recommended frequency of application is once a day. The elderly patients and those with impaired renal function or liver recommended doses are the same. If you take high-fat meal it may delay how quickly the drug begins to work.
Precautions of Sildenafil using about which you must tell to your doctor: any allergic reaction, about problems like angulation, fibrosis, Peyronie’s disease, history of painful or prolonged erection (priapism), kidney disease, liver disease, bleeding, active ulcers, anemia, a blood diseases (such as leukemia or myeloma). Eye problems (eg, retinal disease, retinitis pigmentosa), heart problems. This drug may make you feel giddy or vision changes. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving, using machinery. To minimize dizziness, get up slowly from sitting or lying position. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects from this medication.
Like other medicines, Sildenafil citrate can cause side effects. Usually these effects are mild or moderate severity and lasts no more than a few hours. Some of these side effects likely to arise when taking higher doses. The most common side effects of Sildenafil it – headache, facial flushing, upset stomach. Less frequent side effects such as disturbance of color vision (such as the inability to distinguish between blue and green objects or objects of vision with a touch of blue), change the sensitivity of eyes to light; blurred vision, palpitations, nasal congestion, upset stomach.
